A little more inspiration from summer before it finds its way out…simply, put, it’s not what happens to you, but how you respond to it. Control what you can, which usually means yourself, and not much more than that. It’s easy to forget that, though, and to believe that our thoughts and emotions are in charge of themselves. They’re going to pop up – yes – but when they do, your choice is the same as when something happens outside of you. Engage and give it power, or don’t. See it, and believe it or don’t. Surf, or get swept up. That’s the part that’s always up to you, and with each wave, you have the ability to choose again.

Great post. Great advice. Not easy to apply it though. Most times, we waste our time wishing for better circumstances instead of taking advantage of those circumstances.
So true, Cristian! It’s a great reminder that mindfulness even as a practice requires effort. We have to work to begin to circumstances, and our role in them, differently. I’m honestly not sure that it ever gets easy, but we at least develop the frameworks for trying. Really appreciate your comment!
