We’ve been talking a bit lately (and lately) about the challenging times we find ourselves in, and the ways in which mindfulness can help us to move forward through them. It’s tempting to seek external solutions to discomfort, hoping for someone else to tell us it’s going to be okay, or they can make it okay, and here’s why, etc. Discomfort is often an internal issue, and external solutions can only ever be temporary. Yes, it’s important to listen to others’ perspectives, but if you find that the only sources of your peace of mind are external, you won’t be peaceful for long.
This week, try to find a few to turn inward. Let your breath ground you. Discomfort, and challenging times, are temporary. You can outlast them without losing yourself in the process, but the first step is finding your breath.
